75 years ago World War II ended

May 8, 1945 the Allies celebrated Victory in Europe but the war raged on in the Pacific. August 15, 1945 Emperor Hirohito declared unconditional surrender of Japan. After 60 Million deaths worldwide, WWII was finally over.

It was over and my uncle, Arnold Sevald, serving in the US Navy on the ship "Tinsman" would be coming home safely. August 15, 1945, he was 19 years old.
