Norwegian Language Lesson- Syttende Mai Edition!

Syttende Mai is Norwegian for May 17th
Syttende Mai is the day Norway ratified its constitution in 1814 at Eidsvoll. Typically, to celebrate their constitution and national independence, excited crowds of Norwegians, especially children, parade through the streets, waving flags and singing songs. This year, May 17,2020, is the 150th anniversary of the first children’s parade, which took place in Oslo in 1870. Norwegian-Americans also celebrate this day, remembering their heritage. Unfortunately, this year as Covid-19 isolates us at home, the big parades cannot happen, the celebration must be virtual. Even so, great your family and friends this May 17th.

GRATULERER MED DAGEN!
